Gołubie

This is a beautiful town situated just 50 kms far from Gdańsk, the road is good (something that you appreciate over here) and it is pretty straightforward to arrive there.

The whole area is full of lakes, the landscapes, nature, hoods, and the environment in general is so nice, that you don’t really want to leave the place, I have to say that just strolling around is amazing, you breath such pure oxigen, that make you feel so good, actually the locals say the in places like this, you never get handover after drinking, because the oxygen, well this you have to find out by yourself, I didn’t try, you are just away of pollution and these things that you have to face daily in big cities.

You can check yourself in Google Maps here the link http://g.co/maps/22yyf so will see from the air view dozens of lakes, the big ones are linked through dikes.

See you ;-)

Music Academy / Akademia Muzyczna

If you wonder why sometimes you see people carrying huge musical instruments on the tram or walking pass the Neptune statue, the answer is because the Music Academy or Akademia Muzyczna. This is situated about 300 mts after stare miasto, on ul. Łąkowa 1/2 (check google maps), maybe good to visit if you already got musician skills and you didn´t know where to practise or keep improving them, perhaps just good to finally start with classes of whatever you always wanted to play, good to socialize with the local people too. In the academy building there is nice small cafe.

Here the academy website http://amuz.gda.pl

I have got my attention that within the complex, there is a separate building that hold 2 hotels, 1 restaurant, and 1 cantina with tasty food for a cheap price, try it out, 13 pln a full dish, drinks not included.

The hotels are http://www.dommuzyka.pl/ and http://www.domsonata.com.pl/, I might say that outdoor facilities looks pretty nice, the place is walking distance everywhere, you can even get the tram to go there, there is a tram stop called “Akademia Muzyczna”, tram number 3, 8, 9 plus some others run through this line.

If you want try the restaurant, it is a kind of luxury, so not cheap but totally reasonable, menu has many sophisticated dishes and a lot of good wines. Definitely a nice place, waiters were fluent in English and I guess that after concerts on the Baltic Philharmonic, all the classic music lovers will meet in there.

You will see on the picts the orange building “music academy”, and the beige the hotels complex.

So far so good, check this out and enjoy.

This is what I call creative Marketing, check out the clockwise motion, this is crazy, if you are just walking and suddenly see this, you mind will ask you, Do you feel okay?.

Enjoy the video ;-)

Good Bye colors / Żegnajcie kolory
The Summer time full colors, long days and brightness has just gone, now it is officially Autumn, kind of awesome how mother nature decide to give and take that fast the pretty happiness of colors, from now on days are getting shorter and greyer, temperature getting lower and lower, and maybe people are losing the smile as well, Poles are not the most expressive people to be honest, but in summer time wow, you notice the different.
Weather is totally connected with behaviour and hapiness, that’s why Caribbeans keep dancing, socializing, speaking and all these things that make you shake your body baby, you know :-D
At this time of the year, you can clearly see how indoor places like shopping centers, gyms, pubs, restaurants begin to get busy, I promise you it is oppposite in summer time, every one has these so so so special mission, being out.
So buddy, where to go?, mmmm, I think you can enjoy taking care of your body, there are plenty fitness clubs and gyms around, that offer you sauna, jacuzzi, solarium, even indoor tennis fields, aerobics classes like body pump, zumba, shopping is nice over here, you can always find offers. Night life is pretty cool in every sense, many choices, accesible prices, plenty of restaurants (don’t forget good food good mood) and many more that I will be precisely describing soon.
I was lucky enough, to capture the last tree holding leaves with this last colorful yellow before getting totally leaveless, so I decided to share with you, hope you like it.

Sunrise / Świt
I don’t know why this is so nice to see the sun rising, I can tell that everyone agrees on this topic, no matter who you ask about it; you have the possibility to see in summer time in Poland the sunrise from 3:30 AM, yes I’m not joking, the color has this unique a kind of orange turning red, it is also amazing to find yourself with sunlight that early (or maybe that late), anyway you inmediatly think that you were drinking too much or that you are dreaming awake, I can write many funny stories but in general this is a kind of exotic if you never seen that before.
Driving in Poland is not very confortable, due to the situation of the infrastructure (I will develop this subject in future) but now that the Eurocup 2012 will take place in Poland, there are many road works in process to improve this issue, hopefully they will finish most of them and the tourists will enjoy visiting this country. In the other hand, driving gives you a trully good opportunity to enjoy charming landscapes all along the side of the routes, you can see farm fields almost everywhere full of wheat, oilseed rape, kilometers of forest with those huges pine trees, breathtaking lakes and wild life as well, this not difficult to see wild boars, storks, hedgehogs and deers.
Check out my picture of the sunrise, the best shot I could make while driving.
Sunrising from the middle of the route, notice the very light fog.

All Saints’ Day / Wszystkich Świętych
To begin my posts, I will try to list the events that are happening around here.
I have been many times visiting the cementery in my country, in order to bring flowers to the loved ones who left, now that I live in Poland I still follow this tradition with my local family.  At this point of the year there is not more important day in Poland to visit the cementery than November 1st, All Saints’ Day / Wszystkich Świętych (catholic holiday).
In general it supposed to be a sad day, you know walking in the cementery shouldn’t be nice at all, but I can see that in here it takes some special feeling, whole families meet up and bring tons of flowers to their loved ones, kids running every where, people actually socializing, sitting down and speaking around graves, the more people arrive more colorful it gets, due to the amazing quantity of flowers and candles that decorate the graves.
When the night arrives (very early in Autumn), you can actually enjoy a totally new experience, walking around the cementery; the same is nicely iluminated by thousands of red, green, yellow and white candles, thanks to the glass container where these candles are hold, it makes a really nice brightness effect, I guarantee you the first time I could see that from the train cabin, I didn’t really understand why it was so beautiful, of course you don’t realize where you are passing by when travelling by train, but after few questions my query was totally answered.
